Basic Lens Image
This computation set will allow the user to figure image scale for Micro and Macro imaging with lenses and cameras. The user must input the u, v or f values for the optics and the Primary object size. U is the distance from the object to the lens, v is the distance from the lens to the secondary image. F is the focal length of the lens used with the camera or imaging device.
In the case shown take a 50mm lens (f), add a 36mm extension tube for 86mm for “v” and press “Calculate” to figure the primary image distance, note the negative number for the opposite direction. The primary image size is 45mm the secondary figures to –32.4mm (inverted) and 0.7-magnification value. Press “Clear” to clear the values to try more.
